# Apple Developer Account

### Overview

**One thing to check before you start**: whoever enrolls becomes the `Account Holder` and needs the authority to bind the organization to agreements (owner, founder, exec, senior lead, or someone given that authority). Easier to loop in the right person now than redo it later.

### Steps to Set-up

Follow this process to set-up your `Developer` account with Apple:

1. Go to <https://developer.apple.com/programs/enroll/>
2. Click "Start your enrollment."

3. Notice you will be asked to sign in to Apple Developer.
   1. Use an existing Apple account if you have one, as long as you are the person with the binding authority above.
   2. If you don't have an Apple account, create one — you don't need an iPhone or any other Apple device.

4. Agree to the `Developer` agreement.

5. Click "Get started" for the customized experience, then on the next page, scroll down a little and click on the button "I'm not interested" to skip the customized experience (unless you want to customize it now)
6. Click on "Continue enrollment on the web >"&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/Bv8C5sxO1VyPw7ydzRg8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

7. Fill out the information to "Confirm your personal information."

<figure><img src="/files/6Eljzw7w6LCIHwSJtYWJ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

8. Choose, under "I develop apps as," either `Company / Organization` or `Individual / Sole Proprietor`
   1. Picking `Company / Organization` means the "developer" under your App in the App Store will show as your business name
   2. Picking `Individual / Sole Proprietor` means the "developer" under your App in the App Store will be your personal name

<figure><img src="/files/QbnvxZUXM3Vhpou2bZ4Y" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

9. The below information will say "To enroll, you will need:"

   1. Click "Continue" at the bottom if you have a D-U-N-S number
   2. Click "Check now" in the last paragraph if you have a D-U-N-S number

   <figure><img src="/files/1h9zZPIMZtRw44GMGe2j" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### IF YOU DON'T HAVE A D-U-N-S number

You will have selected "Check now" and will land on the page "[Look up your D-U-N-S Number](https://developer.apple.com/enroll/duns-lookup/#!/search)."

<figure><img src="/files/34K4nkyEv9so1kv7sCn2" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Fill out the information and a confirmation screen will appear. Once a D-U-N-S number is requested, it can take up to 5 business days to come through. Once requested, you will receive two emails: one email confirming the submission and a second email from Dun & Bradstreet saying they will follow up with you within 5 business days.

A few days later, you will receive an email from Dun & Bradstreet saying your **`Resolution Duns`** number is provided.&#x20;

Once you have the D-U-N-S number, move to the step below.

<details>

<summary>What if I receive an email saying my D-U-N-S number request was denied?</summary>

If you receive an email like the one below, saying your request for a D-U-N-S number was denied, it is likely because you did not answer the phone when Apple tried to verify your contact number.

<figure><img src="/files/2dDf63ZSvXW0BrzwxGHg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can still submit or update your organization's information.

If your application has been delayed or you need to provide additional information to D\&B, you can contact them directly. To update your D\&B profile or resolve issues regarding your organization's listing, email D\&B at <https://support.dnb.com/?CUST=APPLEDEV>. Please note that it takes up to two business days for D\&B to provide updated information to Apple after you have successfully updated your profile.

</details>

#### IF YOU DO HAVE A D-U-N-S number

Click "Continue" and land on the page "[Tell us about your organization](https://developer.apple.com/enroll/organization/details/edit/legal-entity)" where you will:

* Review your organizations information
* Provide your D-U-N-S number

Then, Apple will ask you to confirm your signing authority as the `Account Holder`.

<figure><img src="/files/OqyjbUW7M04FPqEm7e2z" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Once confirmed, Apply will verify and email you with instructions to complete your `Developer` account enrollment.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.podplay.app/owners-playbook/the-podplay-system/overview-of-tiers/further-details-of-tiers/apple-developer-account.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
