### DUPR Gated Events

When creating an Event, staff can DUPR gate an Event, meaning all Customers who sign up for the Event must have their DUPR account connected to their Club Profile. This setting is within the DUPR Rating Restrictions drawer in the Event. To create a DUPR gated Event:

* Create an Event
* Open the **DUPR Rating Restriction** section
* Choose the lower and upper limits of the DUPR rating required to join the Event
  * Enter a Reliability Score if this is enabled for your Club (not everyone wants to enable it)
* Fill out the remaining necessary information for the Event
* Publish the Event

<figure><img src="/files/3nOpuiUFxChmjHKclkGl" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

By entering a numerical value between 2 and 8, the DUPR gate will turn on. Once a DUPR gate is added to an Event, Customers will see a `DUPR rating required` flag on the Events tab of the App.

<figure><img src="/files/gviFtLNSyX5VajDT5MnW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

When opening the Event to sign up, Customers who don't have their DUPR account connected are prompted to sign-in to their DUPR account.

<figure><img src="/files/0g7MNiQP2T5IwSyX5RmO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If the Customer does not have the proper DUPR rating, they will be unable to sign up for the Event.

{% hint style="info" %}
Anyone in the Dashboard can override the DUPR gate outside the rating window once the Event is created by adding said Customer to the list of Attendees
{% endhint %}

With a Event is public, a Customer will see Event in the Community tab of the App. The Customer will be able to join the Event if they have their DUPR account connected

* If the Customer does not have their DUPR account connected, they are prompted to connect their DUPR account
* If the Customer does not have a DUPR rating that is within the Rating Gate, the Customer will not be able to join the Event (unless an Admin adds them from the Dashboard)

{% hint style="success" %}
To learn more, read about [DUPR Challenge Matches](https://podplay.gitbook.io/docs/scoreboard-and-kiosk/dupr-challenge-match).
{% endhint %}

#### DUPR Gated Event, no Rating

To turn on a DUPR gate, forcing all Customers to connect a DUPR account to their Profile in your App, turn on the toggle `Allow any rating (incl. N/R)`. This is a setting inside the `DUPR Rating Restrictions` drawer, within the Event settings.

<figure><img src="/files/PDelKHRH0TaUaI8ys6df" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
If inside the Customer’s Profile, the rating may state “Not Reliable” or “Not Rated”. This means the Customer’s account in DUPR’s system doesn’t have enough information to completely trust the rating and no rating is provided.
{% endhint %}

### Update a Customer's DUPR Rating

Staff can review a Customer’s DUPR rating inside their Customer Account.

When a Customer does have a rating, say a rating of 3.5, which is visible inside the App, if the Customer believes their rating is different from what is visible, the Customer can refresh their DUPR rating. Staff can also go to the Customer’s Profile inside the Dashboard and refresh the connection with DUPR. To refresh the connection of the PodPlay system to DUPR’s APIs:

1. Navigate to the Customer’s Profile
2. Scroll down to the USER RATINGS section
3. Click on the refresh/reload button with a circular arrow

This section also shows:

* A link to the Customer’s `DUPR account`
* `Singles Rating`
* `Doubles Rating`
* `Reliability Score`
* The last time the Customer's rating was updated

<figure><img src="/files/JWWXgQeU10GhMoJc1Rqv" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Provisional DUPR Rating

A provisional DUPR rating is a rating provided by a DUPR certified Coach, where a Coach has played with a Customer and can send their assessment to the DUPR system saying the Coach believes this Customer should have N rating (N = the rating the Coach sends to DUPR). To read more about DUPR provisional ratings, read [**the DUPR announcement here**](https://www.dupr.com/post/dupr-officially-launches-provisional-dupr-rating-tool-for-coaches)**.**

#### DUPR Reliability Score

This is NOT turned on for every one and CAN be turned on if desired. DUPR assigns each player a Reliability Score (1–100) reflecting how current and trustworthy their rating is based on matches logged, recency of play, and variety of opponents.

A DUPR Reliability Score is a percentage from 1% to 100% that indicates how dependable your skill rating is. A score of 60% or higher means the algorithm has enough data to accurately reflect your current pickleball skill; anything below 60% indicates you need to log more recent, varied matches. Your score is calculated based on three main factors:

* **Match Volume:** The more games you log, the more data the system has to pinpoint your true level
* **Recency:** Your score decays over time if you don't play regularly, ensuring your rating reflects your *current* abilities
* **Connectivity:** Playing with and against a wide variety of players (especially those with established ratings) improves your score faster than repeatedly playing the exact same group

It's good to know that:

* Singles and Doubles ratings have separate Reliability Scores
* Scores are typically updated weekly by DUPR
* You can read more about the algorithm or track your progression on the [DUPR How It Works](https://www.dupr.com/how-it-works) page.

### DUPR Rating Override

Sometimes a Customer's actual DUPR rating doesn't reflect their true skill level, or edge cases arise (e.g., 3.48 rated player should be allowed into 3.5+ events). Staff may need a way to manually adjust eligibility without changing what the player sees or their official DUPR record.

<img src="https://uploads.linear.app/ad0b04f8-a881-42ec-ae1a-1cd934845aec/0c2daefc-7493-4a87-a900-e03a09041dbe/6f1e8b69-f621-4332-ae8c-b4bd5d4d3971" alt="" height="450" width="598">

When checking event eligibility in a [DUPR gated Event](https://podplay.gitbook.io/docs/tournaments-and-ratings/rating-systems/dupr-ratings#dupr-gated-events), if override rating exists in the Customer's Profile, the Event gate will read the override ratings. Override ratings are treated as 90% reliable for `Reliability Score` checks. Further points to note:

* Staff can set Singles and/or Doubles override ratings on any Customer's Profile
* Override ratings are invisible to the Customer in all contexts.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.podplay.app/pro-system/rating-systems/dupr-ratings.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
